This is incredible! I'm extremely proud of Dr. Senpai Franklin. He's been a role model for my career path, down to us even working at the same Biotech company as student researchers years apart. Thank you for sending this to me, I'll be sure to congratulate him on LinkedIn!
I would also like to give a quick update! This April, I completed my undergraduate degree at UBC, graduating with Distinction and Co-op Education in CombIned Honors Chemistry and Biochemistry!
Additionally, although applying to schools in the USA was off the table given the current administration, I received offers from both UofT and UBC to pursue grad school! UofT flew me out to Toronto and offered direct entry PHD status, but I ultimately chose a bigger, more novel and exciting lab at UBC to begin my master's in September. I was also awarded a $27,000 scholarship (the CGSM award) from UBC for pursuing graduate studies!
As such, I'm currently working full time in my research lab (doing work related to coronaviruses: I'm using AI to design proteins that bind to coronavirus spike proteins, stopping them from binding to your cells and infecting you!) And I begin my full time Master's in September.
Thank you again for this awesome update, and I greatly look forward to seeing everyone on the 26th!
Best regards,
-Evan
Note: Evan also started with me at the age of five. We have incredible success stories.
